Challenge: Due to acquisition strategies, Worldpay developer integration tools were redundant, fragmented, provided incomplete documentation, and were supported by legacy technologies
Solution: Consolidated concise documentation in a singular portal with a human-centric user experience that meets developer expectations, reduces bottlenecks, and expedites go-live times

Worldpay is a global payments processor. Their customers are businesses that need to process transactions like credit card swipes. They wanted a new portal for developers that use their tech.

To grasp Worldpay’s developer ecosystem, we interviewed a series of stakeholders, internal developers, and external customers that used Worldpay’s technologies. From there, we built several concepts that we validated with users. Those insights led to a complete set of wireframes that was also tested by users. The final delivery encompassed ideas for what the platform could be, and design assets and front end code for MVP.



Looking at the current state of the developer experience, we found processes and structures that hindered Worldpay customers. Our insights pointed to being more consistent in communicating, and being adaptive to how customers wanted to evaluate technology partners.

The experience we delivered looked into a future where developers can access technical information quickly, and management can assess the right technologies to implement. Holistically, wherever the user is within the experience, Worldpay is always contextually aware and can engage in the right types of conversations.

The incoming development team was still ramping up, but our design deliverables were reaching a mature stage. We realized we could smooth out the delivery process by developing the front end components. By doing this within our design team, we kept tight quality control of the visual implementation, and providing the development team a front end framework to jumpstart their work.

Worldpay is at an inflection point to really focus its offering and stay in a leadership position in the market. But to get through that as technology provider, its relationship to their developers is crucial. This new developer experience sets to provide a clean foundation to really clarify and amplify that relationship. This platform will touch every part of Worldpay from its products to customer support to sales pipeline. So it serves as the true reflection of the state of the company.
